What Is Chiropractic Care?
Chiropractic care is based on the principle that the spine and nervous system are closely connected, and that spinal misalignments — called subluxations — can interfere with normal nerve function and cause pain throughout the body. A chiropractic adjustment restores proper joint movement, reduces nerve irritation, and allows your body to heal.
Dr. Nance performs thorough evaluations before any adjustment, including a detailed health history, orthopedic and neurological testing, and postural analysis. Treatment is never one-size-fits-all: the technique, depth, and frequency of adjustments are tailored to each patient's age, condition, and comfort level.
In addition to spinal adjustments, Dr. Nance also performs extremity adjusting — treating the shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, and ankles when joint dysfunction in those areas is contributing to your pain.
What to Expect
First Visit: Full Evaluation
Plan on 45–60 minutes. Dr. Nance will review your history, perform orthopedic testing, and discuss your goals before any treatment begins. Many patients receive their first adjustment at this visit.
Follow-Up Visits
Typically 20–30 minutes. Dr. Nance re-evaluates your progress and adjusts your care plan based on how you're responding. No assembly-line care.
Your Care Plan
After your evaluation, you'll receive a clear treatment plan with a realistic timeline. We'll tell you what we can help with and how long it should take.

Common Questions
How many visits will I need?
It depends on how long you've had the problem and your overall health. Acute injuries can often be resolved in 6–10 visits. Chronic conditions typically benefit from a longer care plan, and some patients choose to continue with periodic maintenance visits to stay ahead of flare-ups.
Does a chiropractic adjustment hurt?
Most patients feel immediate relief after an adjustment. You may hear a popping sound — that's just gas releasing from the joint space, not bones cracking. Some people experience mild soreness the first day or two, similar to how muscles feel after a workout.
Do you accept insurance?
We accept most major insurance plans. Call our office and we'll verify your benefits before your first appointment so there are no surprises.
Can chiropractic care help after a car accident?
Yes. Whiplash and soft tissue injuries from auto accidents respond very well to chiropractic treatment. We also document injuries for insurance purposes. It's important to be seen quickly — symptoms from whiplash can take days to fully appear.
